Clinton Lent Campaign $5 Million, Considers More

Wow, this is really quite stunning: the Clinton campaign is so short of cash that Sen. Clinton lent it $5 million and is considering another loan.  This could be decisive.  As one of my friends notes:

Hillary’s inability to raise more money because of the lack of breadth in her support should not be underestimated.  This could be the reason she loses.  It’s like being the South in the Civil War -- eventually the resources run out and you lose.

Updated LOS ANGELES — Our colleague Patrick Healy tells us that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, facing big primaries against her rival Senator Barack Obama in places like Ohio and Texas, is weighing whether to lend her campaign money.

And in a quick update, her campaign has just confirmed that she’d already lent her coffers $5 million of her own money in late January.
